Love Story
Michelle’s Version of Events
It was a hot summer afternoon (August 11, 2017, to be exact). Michelle was sitting at Crash Crawley’s in Coquitlam, complaining about her love life to her coworkers while the children ran through the jungle gym area. She handed her phone over to her coworkers Justin and Sonia, who decided to swipe through the available options on Tinder on her behalf. A few minutes later, she got a match — a man named Alex. Justin took the liberty of sending the first message (referencing cats in Alex’s profile pictures).
Alex’s Version of Events
Meanwhile in the West End in Vancouver, Alex was walking down Bute Street on one of his many daily walks when he got a *ding* that he had a match. One minute later, another *ding* for a message from that same match — someone seemed eager. After the first few messages, the spam alert had considerably lowered and a more serious conversation ensued.
Four days later, Alex and Michelle went on their first date at the Birds & the Beets cafe in Gastown, before Michelle headed off on trips in Saskatchewan and Washington for two weeks. When Michelle returned, Alex was surprisingly still interested in seeing her, and she accompanied him in watching his favourite movie, T2, on its 26 year anniversary re-release. Their third date was at Cactus Club at Jack Poole Plaza in Downtown Vancouver, and after this they decided to make their relationship “official.” The rest is history.
